UNDFTD x Converse Pro Leather Mid Quilted – Golden Yellow

It’s not going to take SOTY consideration away from the Air Force 1, but there’s no other retro basketballer enjoying as many colorways in the second half of 2012 as the Converse Pro Leather.  With a string of high-profile collaborations and some dope in-house throwbacks that have the Pro Leather positioned as a viable alternative to the Nike Blazer, this 1970s classic is in a position to try some new things.  One of those is a look we just saw on the Blazer LR, a tasseled kiltie at the base of the tongue.  Add in diamond quilting (a totally different approach than Stussy’s patchwork styling) along the sides of this Taffy and Golden Yellow suede style and you’ve got a unique take on a classic available now at retailers like Eastbay.

The latest instance of sneaker scene simulacra sees a band who at some level does not exist collaborate on a new release of the model that’s perhaps the single most identifiable in the entire history of athletic footwear. The Gorillaz x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star hightop was designed by the group’s co-founder, artist/designer Jamie Hewlett, who applied a novel camouflage print that might remind you of another primate-branded clothing label that rose to prominence right around the time of Hewlett’s band’s 2001 debut LP. However ironic it may be that one of the world’s leading toy companies is known for their practically clinical sneaker collaborations, you can’t really argue with the results any time Medicom Toy gets up with a major footwear brand. Their latest collaboration comes on this new Medicom x Converse Jack Purcell, a lowtop cast in a milky white fuzz that looks soft as a cloud next to select grey accents including the Bearbrick ‘@’ head logo on the lateral heels. Eminem & Royce Da 5’9″ Discuss Bad Meets Evil x Converse

Today was the release of the Bad Meets Evil x Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star, and Eminem and Royce Da 5’9″, the two who make up the rap duo, sat down to discuss their latest collaborative project and their partnership with Converse and the iconic Chuck Taylor All-Star. Both Em and Royce, who describe the Chuck Taylor as a childhood favorite sneaker, will give away one autographed pair of the Bad Meets Evil x Converse Chuck Taylor, while the rest of these limited drops can be picked up today at the Converse flagship in New York City and Boston. Back at the start of the month, Converse released a new distressed denim pair of Chucks that had us recalling the fact they were the first denim All Stars released in quite a while. Apparently someone at the One Star also realized the relative dearth of models crafted in the world’s most popular durable cotton material, so without further ado, the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star OX Denim Pack. This duo adds bold contrast stitching, leather details and rivets, including a ‘pocket’ on the heel to drive home the theme. Sneaker brands have branched out into boot territory more than ever before this year. Not only does every brand have their own ‘real’ boots these days, but most are also applying rugged hiking/workboot construction to their classic models. Take for example the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Leather D-Ring, a shoe that lives up to its name quite nicely. These joints are a bit tougher than your average Chucks, with two toned suede uppers serving as the base for metal hex eyelets and D-rings on the top two.
