Onitsuka Tiger is celebrating its 60th anniversary (who knew it was that old?) by launching a rather splendid limited edition gift set that includes one of only 240 specially designed vintage-style pairs of anniversary shoes designs, an exclusive anniversary T-shirt and a copy of a specially commissioned collector’s edition magazine entitled Made of Japan.
But in the event that doesn't float your boat (and if not, why not?), the lovely people at Onitsuka Tiger have also provided us with images of some of the coolest trainers and clothes in the company's collection.
Onitsuka announcement:
Next week Onitsuka Tiger will be celebrating its 60th anniversary – an event of major significance in Japan. For the Japanese, turning 60 is an honour; it completes the 60 year ‘cycle of life’.
To mark this milestone, Onitsuka Tiger has created a limited edition gift set that includes one of only 240 specially designed vintage-style pairs of anniversary shoes designs, an exclusive anniversary T-shirt and a copy of a specially commissioned collector’s edition magazine entitled Made of Japan.
The shoe models feature the original iconic Onitsuka Tiger colours of white, red and blue, and are characterised by high-quality materials and meticulous attention to detail.
Variations of the limited edition gift sets (each retailer carries a different exclusive shoe design) will be available only in Size? (Carnaby Street, London), Offspring (Dean Street, London) and the Onitsuka Tiger stores (Newburgh Street, London and College Lane, Liverpool).
The gift packs, priced at £100 each, will be launched throughout the different retail outlet on 1st September 2009 – 60 years to the day since Onitsuka Co., LTD was founded.
